AIMING TO STAY

Carlos Vela has said that he doesn’t want to return to his old club Arsenal. Vela is currently a contracted player of Real Sociedad.

Vela had played for Sociedad on loan in the 2011-12 season. At the start of this season, the Spanish club decided to make the deal permanent. Sociedad paid 4 million Pounds as the transfer fee for buying Vela from Arsenal.

Vela has shown good form for Sociedad in the ongoing season. He has played 27 matches in the season so far and has the found the net 12 times.

There have been a few reports that after seeing Vela’s consistency in this season, Arsene Wenger wants Vela back.
When asked if he wants to return to Arsenal, Vela said, “No, I don’t want to leave Sociedad and return to Arsenal. I consider myself very lucky that I got the opportunity to play for a big club like Arsenal. But, I think I deserved more playing chances there.”

“I have been playing for Real Sociedad since the last one and half years and I have got regular playing opportunities here. I am quite happy in the Sociedad camp and transfer is not something which is in my mind at the moment.”
Vela had joined Arsenal in November 2005 after leaving Guadalajara. He never managed to establish himself as a regular starter for Arsenal. Most of the time, he was out playing for other clubs on loan.

For the first couple of seasons, he was out because he didn’t have the permit to play in England. He got the permit in 2008 and for the next two seasons, he was in the Arsenal camp. But, he was given only a few playing opportunities. In the second half of the 2010-11 season, he was again placed on loan to West Bromwich Albion.
