Carlos Vela’s career has been in the limbo for the last few years.

After being linked with a return back to Arsenal, the striker has failed to hit the same heights in recent times. This has seen him struggle for first-team opportunities in the last couple of seasons. After being used to making 35 or more league appearances in his first two years at Real Sociedad, Vela is on course to recording his worst season – in terms of league appearances – in the 2015-16 season. He has scored only two goals in 15 appearances for the Spanish outfit.

This poor form may force the club to consider selling the player and cash in. Vela still remains a major saleable asset for Real Sociedad at just 26 years of age. The player is believed to have cost only around € 3 million when he first moved from Arsenal in 2012. His agent says that the player will certainly not rule out a move to MLS outfit Colorado Rapids, who are believed to be interested in the player. Not one of the top teams in the MLS, Colorado Rapids are searching for a top striker who can help them move up the table. The club finished bottom of the 2015 Western Conference table.

"In the case of Carlos Vela, we are waiting to see what might happen. With the MLS they can, we can say, put down a marker when they see a player which they like, and tell the league that they have the right of first refusal if he is coming in. That is what has happened with Colorado Rapids and Carlos Vela, they have the right to be in there, a right that can be transferred to another club. We want to listen them, but I don't want to say he will definitely leave [Real Sociedad]," Hernandez said.
