Carlos Vela finally back from Controversy to Scoring Sheet

After causing much controversy in recent weeks, striker Carlos Vela finally got back on the scoresheet by securing a goal in the 2-1 loss against Getafe.

The future of the Mexican striker at Real Sociedad has been in doubt for the last few months. His form has been extremely poor to even consider a place in the starting line-up. Despite the club struggling for victories, Vela has been unable to get game time. His situation was made even worse when he was pictured at a Chris Brown concert in Madrid. More worryingly, he missed a training session in order to attend this concert.

Vela was able to take advantage of opposition goalkeeper Vicente Guaita failing to keep hold of a cross. The parry fromGuaita fell kindly on the path of Vela and he was able to score with a tap in. The goal was one of the few highlights for Real Sociedad in the game, as they watched Getafe comeback with two goals in the remainder of the match. After having failed to win the last four games in the league, the club are now in desperate need of a win. They have announced a contract extension for defender Inigo Martinez. The 24-year-old will stay at club until the summer of 2021.

After having made 31 appearances in all competitions for Real Sociedad, the club wasted no time in renewing his contract that had just 12 months left to end. "The defender has extended his contract by four years. Accompanied by president Jokin Aperribay and sporting director Loren, he signed the new agreement this morning at the club's offices in Anoeta," said a club statement. "I am very proud to continue playing for this club. I wanted to extend my contract and, finally, the day has arrived,” said the player.
