GREATD ECEMBER

December 2013 was fantastic for Carlos Vela. He produced top performances for his club Real Sociedad in almost every league outing and ended up becoming the player of the month leaving behind the great players like Cristiano Ronaldo.

This is Vela’s third season at Sociedad. He made his way to the club as a loan signing in August 2011 and performed well enough to earn a permanent contract at the end of that season.

In the last couple of seasons, he has been the leading forward for Real. He has rarely failed.

The Mexican international has made 106 appearances for Real in total so far and has found the back of the net 39 times.

As far as Vela’s numbers in the 2013-14 Season are concerned, they are fabulous. In the 19 league matches that he has played, he has struck 8 times and has assisted quite a few times as well.

However, in spite of Vela’s regular good performances, the position of Real Sociedad in the La Liga points table is not great at the moment. They are at no. 6 with 33 points and aren’t looking the favourites to qualify for the Champions League. If they have to move up in the table and end in top 4, they need somebody who can complement Vela on the field.

There are some Mexican fans who are hoping for Vela to make a comeback in international football, but, as things stand right now, it doesn’t seem to be happening. There is no doubt that the Mexican Football Association would love to have him especially when he is in this kind of form, but, Vela himself is believed to be unwilling for that.
The last time that Vela had made an appearance for his national side was about 3 years back.
